Motorcycles and Makeup, Skincare and Scooters, Guns and Glamour

Greetings Fellow Motorcyclists!

Well spring has finally sprung! Some days almost feel like summer and then the next day may be back to winter—but we are not complaining! JoAnna and I have been taking advantage of every opportunity and riding as much as possible, but never enough. We hope you are getting to ride as much as you want!

World Of Wheels Seminar Schedule Set

If you have not taken advantage of the free seminars at WOW Motorcycles, you are missing out! Candy and Company have done a great job putting together quality seminars and they are offered FREE of charge. You can find more information on the WOW website, but below is a recap.

Ken and JoAnna, Chuck Watwood (Lawbike.com), and a representative from Georgia Carry will be the presenters for a Motorcyclist and Concealed Carry Seminar on May 19. This will be similar to one we presented last year—which turned out to be the WOW seminar with the highest attendance! In addition this year, Chuck will have copies of his new "The Motorcycle Lawbook" available which includes a section on "Guns and the Motorcyclist".

If you ride a motorcycle, presently carry a handgun while riding or are considering carrying a handgun when riding your motorcycle, don't miss this Seminar.

Spring Training and Practice

Warm weather is just around the corner and we have been scheduling motorcycle and handgun classes for May and June. Call or submit an application. Call us for available motorcycle and handgun dates-770 573 9902.

It's a family affair! We recently had the pleasure of instructing one of our longtime AMS customers' oldest son. Calvin's father learned to ride with us many years ago. Riding in the dirt since a small boy, Calvin is now ready to take it to the street. As they say, "A family that rides together, stays together." What a great experience!

It's been found most people put in only minimal practice time with small revolvers because their light weight and limited grip can make them uncomfortable to shoot. In comparison, we find shooting the 4 to 6 inch (barrel) revolvers to be a joy. Mastering double-action shooting by practicing with the heavier, more durable full size revolvers is a more effective plan. Then with additional practice with the more "friendly" revolvers, the shooter can go back to the smaller "carry" revolver with more confidence and better skills.

Good Rides and Good Eats (sorry, Alton!) in North GA

The closing of Two Wheels Only Motorcycle Resort in Suches this past month is a considerable misfortune for all the motorcyclists who ride in this area. We would like to let you know that there is a newly opened local eatery nearby in Suches that offers "GOOD EATS". The 180 Diner (formerly Lenny's Grill) is now open on Georgia 180 just about 5 miles from the intersection of GA 60 and GA 180. Meet the owners (and operators), Shelly and Tom Ingram. You can order from the menu on Friday and Saturday. A country buffet is offered on Sunday. Check out the 180 Diner and tell Shelly and Tom "Hello" for us.

If you are looking for something more up scale, ride up to the Blairsville/Blue Ridge area and meet Carolyn, Michelle, and Anthony at the Lodge at Copperhead. Excellent food, great location, and wonderful folks.

The address and web site is:
www.theLodgeatCopperhead.com
151 Copperhead Pkwy, Blairsville, GA 30512
(706) 745-8000

The Copperhead Lodge offers overnight accommodations, an excellent menu, and regular events.

Tell them "Hello" from us as well!

Xocai: Healthy Chocolate Update

Did you know the U.S.D.A. Nutrient Database lists raw cocoa as the number one superfood in the world because it has more antioxidants in it than any other food? And the more antioxidants you have in your body,
the better you sleep at night
the more weight you lose
the better your joints feel
improved cardiovascular health
the better your brain works

Antioxidants repair the damage done to your body's cells every day by pollution, stress, the environment, and the aging process.

If anyone would like more information, just let me knows (joanna@jkminc.com, 770.573.9902 or JoAnnasChocolates.com ).

Riding Tip

To minimize the negative affect your weight has on your motorcycle, try weighting the footpegs. To help support your body, squeeze the tank with your knees to allow your arms to remain relaxed as you weight the pegs. The helps to take some weight off the saddle, and it allows the large muscles in your legs to act as additional shock absorbers. This simple technique allows the tires and suspension to perform better, which is critical when riding near the edge of traction.

Riding events of particular interest

Years ago while under contract with American Honda to lead demo rides, I had the good fortune to ride up to Lake George, N.Y. and participate in AMERICADE. I strongly urge you to attend this fantastic national convention sometime in your riding lifetime…. The riding in upstate NY and Vermont is excellent!! 2011 dates are 6-11 June and the website is www.americade.com.

If motocross strikes your fancy, consider attending the Qualifier at the Lazy River MX Ranch in Chatsworth, Georgia this next month. Check it out at www.lazyrivermotocross.com.

Our own Motorcycle Sports Touring Association events kick off with the North Georgia Classic in Helen, Georgia on the 22nd-24th of April. Go to www.msta-se.com/helen for more information. Looking forward to seeing you in Helen.

Also the MSTA national STAR is in Johnson City, Tenn. in June. Click STAR-2011 for the application. Again, Joanna and I will be attending.

The BMW Motorcycle Owners of Georgia Mountain Rally will once again be hosted at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds and Music Park on Lake Chatuge in Hiawassee, Georgia on the 29th through 1 May.

There are so many motorcycling events scheduled from now through the end of summer… Be sure to attend those of your choice.

Let us know of an event you have attended and enjoyed.

What did you say?

Amateurs talk hardware (equipment) while professionals talk software (training and attitude).

Gear (motorcycle and handgun brands/types) is fun while training and practice require time and effort.

In the end, it's all about having the correct information. We really don't want "stories" or individual opinions based on bias. Make an informed decision… Go to the professionals for the "CORRECT INFORMATION".

Note that all of this applies to motorcycling and handguns.
